Mowich Lake Campground: Mount Rainier National Park
Mowich Lake Campground has 10 primitive walk-in sites that are tent only campsites. Campfires are prohibited at Mowich Lake Campground. Campers are advised to use extra caution with food storage, as hungry animals frequent the campground and surrounding areas.
The Carbon River entrance is open year round to foot traffic, but vehicle access is permitted only to the park entrance, via SR 165 through Wilkeson. The area offers excellent recreation opportunities for hiking, backcountry camping and mountain biking as the Carbon River Road is one of the few places mountain bikes are allowed within the national park.
Access to Mowich Lake, the deepest and largest lake inside the park is also accessed from this area. Due to heavy snowfall the road to Mowich Lake area is only open in the summer and closes mid-October or with the first snowfall.
NOTE: No Campfires Allowed at Mowich Lake Campground!

Are you ready to get off the ground and sleep in a real bed, yet at the same time still enjoy the great outdoors? When available, cabin and yurt rentals are a great alternative to tent camping and a comfortable way to enjoy natural surroundings of Mount Rainier National Park without truly roughing it.
